In 1998, Lance Worthington the managing director of Wiri Timber, founded the Frame and Truss Manufacturers Association (FTMA). This is an independent not for profit association who's members are Frame and Truss fabricators who are determined to raise the standards of the industry and commit to high quality framing practices. This highlights the level of dedication that the management team at Wiri Timber have when it comes to producing quality frames and trusses.

Our Commitment to Technology & Quality

We are also one of NZ's most technologically advanced frame & truss plants.

We have a team of detailers and estimators who are highly skilled in engineering, design and detailing and they use the latest CAD software programes, ensuring we deliver the best possible product in full and on time.

Once a job has been detailed down and is ready for production. The details are sent to our fully computerised frame and truss plant, which is operated by highly skilled staff who produce the highest quliaty pre-cut and pre-nailed wall frames and roof trusses to the exact measurements required.

The latest and Best Technology

We have recently installed the first Alpine Linear Saw (ALS) in NZ. The  ALS is a technologically advanced saw that cuts wood truss chords and webs with speed and precision.

The ALS passes lumber through lengthwise, like a table saw, instead of sideways like a component cutter. But this is not just any fancy saw, the ALS has heavy duty servo motors designed for high speed truss production with precision accuracy and all the cuts are made with a single blade.

Set-ups are made in factions of seconds and cuts are precise to 1/32 of an inch. The ALS cuts all standard truss parts from any lumber width; single, double and step cut webs, off centreline parts, and regular and scissor bottom chords.

All of these versatile cuts are performed with minimal waste as the Alpine ALS optimizes and nests cuts specifically to minimize waste. Early word from the field is lumber savings due to reduced waste of 10%. The Alpine ALS accomplishes all of these amazing cuts and optimization at production rates exceeding 2,000 unique pieces in an eight hour shift.

Our Commitment to our Customers

With this new saw Wiri Timber aims to provide our customers with benefits such as more accurate truss production, quicker manufacturing turn around, lower costs due to waste minimisation, and faster deliveries.

At Wiri Timber we have always aimed to provide a high level of quality and service in everything we do, and the purchase of this new American ALS saw, is another step in our dedication to ensuring that our promise of high quality and service is delivered.
